Thought for the day

Challenges are given to see our limitations as a human being. When it is given, we have choices on what to do about it. Weak people think negative thoughts that compromise these challenges; while, strong people choose to stay positive, thinks one step ahead, thinks of a solution and say to themselves that everything will be better, maybe not now but soon.

Thanks for the enlightening, Andrew Matthews!:D

Another Goodbye Song - PDA2

Artist: Van Louell Pojas
Album: Scholars Sing Cayabyab

Here's another goodbye song
I'm running out of words to say
How bad I feel
How sad and real
When someone says goodbye
And I am not prepared to cry

Here's another goodbye song
I feel the words are comin' now
And they reveal how bad I feel
Cause you're not comin' back to me

I hear your thoughts
I hear your every word they linger in my heart
I see your face I hear your voice
With both eyes closed I hear your breathe
I never thought this day would come
When you would say goodbye

Here's another goodbye song
Here's another goodbye song
I feel the words are comin' now
And they reveal how bad I feel
Cause you're not comin' back to me

Here's another goodbye song
I'm running out of words to say
How bad I feel How sad and real
When someone says goodbye
And I am not prepared to cry

Here's another goodbye song
Here's another goodbye song
I feel the words are comin' now
And they reveal how bad I feel
Cause you're not comin' back
Cause you're not comin' back
You're not comin' back...

I hear your thoughts
I hear your every word
They linger in my heart
I see your face I hear your voice
With both eyes closed I hear your breathe
I never thought this day would come
When you would say goodbye

Here's another goodbye song
Here's another goodbye song
I feel the words are comin' now
And they reveal how bad I feel
Cause you're not comin' back
Cause you're not comin' back to me

Here's another goodbye song

Paano Na Kaya - PDA2

Artist: Jay ‘Bugoy’ Bugayon
Album: Scholars Sing Cayabyab

Kahit ’sang saglit man lang—

An alternative Violinist

I'm practicing violin all by myself since I can't remember when and I'd say all I want is to play music on it. hehe..

Anyways I went to YOUTUBE to check my finger placement for Suzuki methods and I came across a virtuoso which I think has a better playing style than Vanessa Mae. She's known as sori1004jy and as I was watching her videos I found out that her real name is Ji Yeon and base from the name I'd say that she's Korean.

My goodness, I wish someday I could be as good as her eventhough I'm playing the violin for recreation. I guess, my fault was I didn't start playing the violin when I was little that's why it's too hard for me to do finger placement; anyways, if anyone is reading this blog I guess you could visit her at YOUTUBE or just click the link below:

Ji Yeon (sori1004jy)

She's absolutely amazing, you'll adore her. :D

An Unexpected Reunion

Today, I went to Trinoma to do some errands and some shopping. After Trinoma, I felt that it was too early for me to go home since it's only 3 something PM and then I remembered that Raunche and Gladys were hitting the gym today so I told them that I'll just wait for them at the coffee shop in SM to have some catching up. Raunche told me that they will be there 'til 6PM so I don't actually mind waiting since it wasn't actually a planned meeting, it was just "biglaan". So I got at the coffee shop at 4PM, drank some coffee and saw some of our old HS Batchmates in the nearby pizza parlour but I didn't approach them 'coz I'm shy and I'm not really close to all of them except for my close friends Bea and Rea.

After Bea and Rea's meeting with our other batchmates they went to my table and accompanied me for awhile. While we were chatting Bea spotted Mark (our HS classmate and friend) and then he saw Bea in return. So Mark went to our table and talked to us for the time being when he mentioned that Ria and Sofia were also at the mall! What a coincidence. Mark knew though that Ria and Sofie were at the mall so he just texted them to let them know that we're gonna wait for them at the coffee shop.

It was really an unexpected meeting 'coz I only planned to meet up with Raunche and Gladys. So afterwards, Mark texted Sofie and Ria and yet Raunche arrived first before them, which usually happens when Sofie/Ria decides to scout the whole mall; haha; and then Raunche told me that they were with Rhayan. I thought wow there so many of us in the mall in an unexpected day. Then I remembered that Dra. Lei (our dentist friend) was working at a dental clinic in the mall. So I asked Mark to text Doc Lei so we can meet up. And then Adrian (Gladys's BF and also our friend) called me to let me know that he's actually looking for me at the coffee shop and he too was surprised on how many of us were already there. It was a bunch of silly meet ups and in the end there were at first 13 of us. Me, Bea, Rea, Mark, Randell, Raunche, Adrian, Lei, Jerald, Ria, Sofia, Gladys and Rhayan. After we were completed we decided to eat dinner since it really was an unexpected meeting and we were all excited to talk to each other and our stomachs were already grumbling; but, before we ate, Bea and Rea were already gone to, I guess, shop at the mall.

We decided to eat at Gerry's Grill and when the "Abreceas" were withdrawing they happen to bumped with Sarah of Prudence and she was about to go out of work by 9PM so we waited for her and then there's that. The whole point is we get the chance to catch up with each other because the last time that almost all of us meet was in our previous Christmas Party.

It was really fun for all of us and I guess we could say that it's a perfect Unexpected Reunion. Hope it happens again in a couple of months, weeks "pwede na din" hahahahaha...

Pinoy Idol

(how disappointing)

After the American Idol 7 finale it was supposed to be time for me to watch Pinoy Idol but due to some tambays and all I wasn't able to watch it in a regular basis.

It was 2 weeks ago that I first watched the show and to my shock there were just 14 or 16 contestants left. So ok it was the father's day special and I watched the performances from the boys and the girls and wow. I'm stunned there are just a couple of few that has a really good singing factor with them. I believe at that same time the PDA housemates were being announced and to my surprise (I really need to compare) their contestants are WAY much better than those of P.I. how disappointing. I also believed that Philippine Idol contestants were better than that of Pinoy Idol. I was expecting too much from the show, since it is a BIG hit in America and it is with GMA. I don't know if it's the judges that's wrong for the show OR the show is wrong itself.

I'm a huge music lover myself and I don't think Pinoy Idol did justice on the Idol brand...

If you have your own opinions tell the world about it through your comments hehe..

What a Flashback!!!

3 years ago, there was this incident in our family that involved a long time "deadmahan" with the siblings. It's a very long story but in the end it was all well, except for he-who-must-not-be-named - who started it all. It was traumatic for me. Let's call that event "it". Tonight, I had a good dream; well I thought is was going to be that way until I dreamed that it will happen again! Oh my God!

The nightmare started with my nephew having his airy (which is not him at all) attitude because he has a new zoid, you know the robot one that you'll die building before they can play with it, so he then asked me to build it for him. Being one of my favorite nephews that he is I then started building it for him when suddenly things turned around. While I was building the said toy the dream scenario changed. What's weird is it's still in the same setting. Something something something stuff happened that I can't clearly make out but one thing's for sure that favorite nephew of mine called me an idiot that's when all the nightmare started!

So then I let the nightmare continue to know what's gonna happen and voila "it" happened again because my nephew started it and I ended it. In other words my strong opinions preceded me, again. It's because of a comment that I said and the actions that I showed that started the whole traumatic scene to happen again. I think my heart couldn't take it anymore so I choose to wake up at 4:30 in the morning.

The thing that I'm frightened of is that I dreamt it within the time (3-6am, I can't clearly recall) where dreams sometimes comes to reality (based on someone's saying); and for no reason I had the urge to blog about it. They say to contradict something you have to brag about it. So I guess that's what I'm doing and going to do. Sigh, I hope it does not happen again specially my closest sibling and her family's here.

Rachel Weisz dropped The Mummy 3:

Leaves me a few reasons to watch it...

Last week when I was watching a movie I saw the trailer of The Mummy 3, and to my surprise I didn't see Rachel Weisz's face anywhere. Instead there was this new girl on set which I thought was a new girlfriend of Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) for this installment. Since the girl's character's name was not mentioned in the trailer (if I can remember it correctly) so did my speculations that she was a new girlfriend.

A week has past and I decided to watch the first two installments of The Mummy from my collection and all of a sudden I remembered that I didn't see Evie (Rachel Weisz) on the new trailer. Intrigued as I was, I researched the reason why she was not in the installment. From what I read she said that she will be taking care of her 9 month old baby so she can't make the film. So I got that part, but I then remembered the new girl. So I again searched for the information regarding The Mummy 3. And to my surprise, I found out that the girl I saw was the new Evie...

Her name is Maria Bello who was a star from the film "Cayote Ugly" and she will be Evie from now on. This got me upset to tell you the truth; because the one of the bigger reasons why I watch The Mummy is because of Rachel Weisz. It's because she's funny and she brings the character into life. It's as if she was born Evie.

Now that Rachel Weisz is no longer the lead actress, I have fewer reasons to watch the next installment. At first I was excited because the new installment is coming out but the excitement was washed out when I learned this about this info... haaay (sigh)...

I just hope Ms. Maria Bello plays Evie the same way Rachel Weisz did or better. Eventhough I'm dismayed, I'm still going to watch the next installment with less excitement - since I'm a fan of these kinds of movie genre.

Man, so disappointing... tsk tsk...

What do you think???

I HATE COMMERCIALS!

I really hate commercials - in local channels that is. If you, yourself is fond of watching tagalized cartoons or teleseryes or whatever they call it nowadays you will be bombarded with shit load of commercials. In reality a TV show in Pinas is supposed to last for only half an hour but no, it lasts for an hour and the commercials... lasts forever.

If a character in a show says a "bitin" line like "babangon ako't dudurugin kita" or an actor/tress makes a scary looking face which you don't know if it's blank or what - tada - commercial. I actually think that the commercials are longer than the show itself. This is the reason why I don't really watch local TV.

Thank God for technology and the internet because instead of getting bombarded with a lot of commercials on TV you get an uninterrupted show (except for buffers) online. Not the same quality but at least you're free from commercials!

For me the only interesting local channel that I really would want to watch is Studio 23 less commercials and more shows! Just like 96.3 radio station "less talk more music".

If you share the same opinion as I have hehe feel free to leave comments.

A Review on the Gintong Pamana of ABS-CBN

(The Surigao Treasure)

Most of you might have noticed that my recent blogs are about our country and I believe that you are wondering why. Well, me, myself and I want to know. Maybe it's because this is the only way I can show my patriotism over our perishing country. Enough about that though. Last Sunday, June 8, 2008, ABS-CBN televised what I can call well-researched documentary about our ancestral gold or better yet - ancestry.

Believe it or not the title "Gintong Pamana" is literally pointing to the gold pieces which were buried in Surigao. Well I don't exactly remember all the places where it was dug but, what I'm sure is a Pinoy by the name of Berto Morales was the one who first discovered the Surigao gold treasures.

Mang Berto was a bulldozer (scraper) operator for flattening a dug ground for an irrigation project of a government agency - NIA (National Irrigation Administration). It was then when he realized that there was a shiny stuff on the ground that he went down from his truck and inspected it. It was a belt that he first saw. At first he did not know that it was gold but since Filipinos have innovative way to check things, he went to his truck and got some muriatic acid - placed some on a cloth - wiped the belt and wa-lah there it is, GOLD.

He took the rest of the afternoon off while inspecting the perimeter for some more gold. And to no surprise he was able to find more. Amazing, is the first word I thought. After he have gathered everything he can find, he broke his truck so that he won't go on overtime and so he can go home cleverly disguising the sack of gold with "saba" (small bananas) on top of it. All the gold pieces that he found were interesting and well crafted. I must say that Mang Berto is a poor fellah and being that - the first thing that came into his mind is "wow, since I found all this gold my family and I won't have to suffer this life anymore".

So being the human that he is, his first instinct was to sell something that is valuable to get money in return. And so he did that, not knowing what the true value of the gold pieces were. After all the conspiracies and the selling that happened all the gold pieces were sold to private individuals, to private collectors and all that; and, have been passed/sold around, been divided into pieces and all the horrific things that can be done to a gold. Maybe most of the pieces were bought by the Ayala group of companies because they have a lot of it in their museum. Or maybe most of the private owners and collectors thought that it should be displayed to the public since it is a heritage that our ancestors left for us. Didn't I mention that the gold pieces were from the 10th to 13th century? Well, it is; proven by scientists and all. It was dated before the Spaniards took over us. Amazing isn't it?

You should've seen the collection, it really wowed me. Imagine the gold pieces like the 4kg gold sash (commonly known as the “golden thread”) were mold into perfection without using the technology that we have now in shaping gold accessories. I mean it is astonishing to see those gold pieces because they were as if professionally made. The design and all is definitely and proudly Asian or better yet Pinoy. And believe it or not, professionals think that one of the gold pieces that’s in the exhibit is actually a Hindu god. It is the Kinnari - a kind of god in the Hindu religion showing that our early religion could have really been Hinduism or Buddhism.

According to the documentary, Antonio Pigafetta, who was the assistant of Magellan during his travel to the Maluku islands and later the Philippines, said in his journal that you can find gold by the size of walnuts and eggs in the region and by the riverbanks. He also described the lifestyle of the Filipinos back in the 1500’s as sophisticated. Putting this into account it means that our land were very rich then. It is also said that the Boxer codex, (a journal of a Governor General, was bought and renamed as such) described and ILLUSTRATED how Filipinos looked like on their initial contact with the Spaniards. The book also contains more description and illustration about the Spanish contact with various Far East countries. The way I see it, I say, it is a big chunk of our early history which we Filipinos never get to see because it is in the Lilly Library in Indiana University.

It is with these facts that opened questions in my mind. Did the Spaniards colonized us so that they can utilize the gold reserves of our country and were the Yamashita gold originally belonged to the Filipinos? Was it found here and molded into gold bars? There could be possibilities that the answers are YES but there could be no assurance at all since we were deprived of this information from the Spaniards and the Japanese.

As I have said in my previous blog, if we weren't colonized for 400 years we could've flourished our own civilization through our own efforts. We could have had our own structures, religion (not that there's something wrong with the present, only a thought), and best of all our own IDENTITY as a nation and as real Filipinos or whatever we were called before the colonization. I hope that this blog have shed some light on you - readers - and I hope this opens a sense of patriotism or love for our country in you. I know that it's difficult because of the current government issues and all but let's be positive and think that someday, someday, our nation’s faith will be as good as other countries.

How to get to Dawal Beach Resort and to Potipot Island

I made these guides so that those people who are planning to go there won’t have a hard time thinking how they’ll be able to get there, like what happened to us.

IF YOU ARE TAKING A BUS:
- According to the cab driver on our way home, he told us that there’s a Genesis bus transit in Cubao going to Sta. Cruz, Zambales which is the next town after Candelaria. Though, this information is not proven yet.
- The proven bus that will take you to Candelaria, Zambales is Victory Liner Caloocan Station. Although some of its buses are wow in hotness, judging from what we rode round trip. This is the best station for you to ride if you’re somewhere from Q.C. coz they said that there Cubao station don’t have journeys to Sta. Cruz/Candelaria.

STEPS:
1. Ride a cab or a jeep going to Caloocan City
2. a. In the Rotonda turn left (if you’re riding a cab)
b. Alight (bumaba) from the jeep when you see the Rotonda and take the left pedestrian lane if there’s some.
3. A few blocks from the Rotonda is the Victory Liner Caloocan branch.
4. Find the buses that will go to Sta. Cruz, buy tickets and get on board.

Don’t believe that you have to go down on the Municipal Hall of Candelaria to take a tricycle. The resort is way far from the Municipal Hall. Just tell the driver or the conductor to stop the bus on exact street going to Dawal Beach Resort. Do not worry there will be signs. Your landmark should be a waiting shed and a sign of the Dawal Beach Resort that has 40% discount on it. Then you’ll just have to walk for 3-5 minutes and you’re there.

IF YOU ARE TAKING A CAR WITH YOU:
- I believe the best way to travel is through SCLEX the newly made expressway to Clark and Zambales.
- Go to NLEX and when you reach Pampanga there would be 2 routes for you to choose it’s to turn left or to turn right. I believe you should turn left. Just to make sure ask directions from the policemen on the intersection, on how to get to SCLEX.
- I believe you just have to drive a couple of miles which is not very far and choose the exit that you’ll be taking.
- The rest is up to you from this point on.
- The best advice that I can give to you if you’ll bring car is to bring a zambales map too. hehe

I hope this helps. :)

Potipot Island - A Summer Solitude

It was almost a month since my friends and I planned to go to Potipot Island in Candelaria, Zambales. We decided that we are going somewhere in the 2nd week of April and April 11-13 was the date that we picked.

It was me, Raunche, Karen and Joanna who have planned this summer getaway but it was (surprisingly) Karen who brought this up with us. We had a lot of meetings as to where or what place should we stay in to get to Potipot Island. In the long run we chose Dawal Beach Resort.

The day before our departure –Thursday-, Joanna suddenly decided that she will not come with us anymore for some reasons and to tell you the truth I was really so freakishly pissed off because we’re leaving on Friday morning. It was really disappointing because we planned this trip for almost a month now and we have agreed that no one will back out since everyone agreed to go in the first place.

The reason why I was so pissed off is that I already budget our allowance for 5 people for 3 days and there’s no more extra money for us to spare. So I thought that “shit how are we gonna last for 3 days?” Joanna could’ve told us a day before we leave so we could’ve found a replacement for her.

Anyways, that same night the four of us (Raunche, Onix, Karen and I) gathered at my house so we can go to Zambales together. We left at around 2 AM to have some coffee first and after drinking coffee we went to the Caloocan Station of Victory Liner.

Our bus left at 4:30 AM and my God was it not the hottest air-conditioned bus I’ve ever ridden in my entire life and we endured it for 6 hours whew. Most of the provincial busses I’ve already ridden were really cold as if you’ll die in coldness. Anyways as I mentioned earlier our travel time was 6 hours so we travelled from 4:30-10:30 AM.

We checked in at Dawal Beach Resort the moment we arrived. However, there was a bit of a road block because the frontdesk told us that the deposit I made didn’t reflect on their records. But in the end because of Karen’s bank knowledge we were able to sort it out. Bravo Karen! You really impressed me there.

Dawal Beach Resort is a nice place to stay in. It’s not a 5 star beach resort but what the heck all we need is a place to sleep at night.

Once we were settled in our room we ate our brunch and prepared to go to Potipot Island. Going to Potipot Island is not that hard. Once you step out of the resort you’ll be greeted by a bunch of nice bangkeros and will offer you a round trip to Potipot Island back to Dawal. At first, we thought that it will cost us P400 each that’s why all of us were so mad at Joanna coz she’s included in that budget. But, fortunately enough we were misinformed and it was P400 round trip maximum of around 8 persons per Bangka (boat).

As we were relieved to know that; our grudges against Joanna were lessen. Hehe.. So the 4 of us travelled to Potipot Island. I don’t know, but I believe it was Karen’s first time to ride a Bangka because, My God, we were laughing our hearts out on looking how scared she was. Hahaha.. I mean she were practically screaming all throughout our Bangka journey which lasted 10-15 minutes. The island is not that far though. More or less we tried to comfort her but she did not stop until we reached the Potipot shores. Hahaha

There weren’t a lot of people in Potipot Island that Friday afternoon which is what we wished for. The island is really small but it has white sand, a lot of trees for shade and a clear greenish-blue water. Although there were some leaves on the shore and the water, the afternoon that we spent there were fun-filled and relaxing. Just looking at the ocean made me forget a lot of problems that I have, I did not think of anything but all of the laughters that we were doing. Of course, Joanna was one of our main jokes there. No offense Joan. We were picked up by our Bangka at around 5 PM and we were at our room at around 5:15PM.

After we were cleaned we ate our dinner and drank some alcohol in our room. Unfortunately we weren’t able to bring our own bottle of alcohol coz the personnel told us that there was P300 for hard drinks which in reality was none if you stay in the beach front rooms. KAINIS. We could’ve brought the alcohol that we want the most.

We spent the next day there just like what we did on our first day; so nothing to tell you about it. Except that I am so dark black now. wahahaha

The only thing that bugged us was our bus ride and the long hours of travel; but, all in all our stay was worth it. Not what I expected but worth it.

Pictures are to follow; and thanks for reading.:)
