The Last Airbender for Shyamalan???

My thoughts on the Last Airbender.

last airbender

Okay... I know my review is over late, since it just premiered in our country last week, but still I wanna voice out how frustrated the movie turned out to be --- for me. Hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinion right?

Anyways, since the first time I've seen the first-looks for this movie I was so hyped that I want to watch it immediately that day considering it was almost a year ago. So, I patiently waited, waited and waited 'til last week.

After waiting for what seemed like forever, it is finally time for me to watch it in the big screen! Exciting!

However.... I had to laugh at the beginning of the movie because there was this rolling script that Katara was reading and it was so trying hard "Star Wars"-like which does not at all fit this movie! Hullo? Wazzup with that? HAHAHA... They should have stuck with the same intro as the series.

In my point of view and basing from what I've seen, I believe Shyamalan destroyed the storyline of a perfectly well plotted show. What's wrong with sticking with the same light-hearted story? His thoughts were so scattered you would wonder what happened to the word cohesiveness.

Oh, don't get me started with the characters I have a lot to say about them, but I'll just focus on Aang and Ozai.

Based on the movie, Aang has became such a gloomy kid with a bunch of NEGATIVITY! He lost his silly attitude, his being smart, his trickery, and his ability to bring hope to a lot of people. It's supposed to be all about him but instead it looks to me that it was all about the fire nation; and, the Fire Lord Ozai already made his debut!!!!!! What????????

In the series, the Fire Lord's appearance was revealed in Book Three: Fire and will not and will never be revealed in Book One: Water.

Anyways, it's really disappointing how Shyamalan rewrote the story. I do have to give him credits for the special effects because it was amazing! Fight scenes are okay. Characters reenactment are passable. But still, it ended up being a total rubbish.

If Nickelodeon still plans to remake the other books I'm hoping they kick-out Shyamalan and replace him with the likes of Chris Columbus or Peter Jackson; and, have the story rewritten by the 2 creators and not just by anyone since I'm sure they will come up with the best summary for the books.

Book One: Water is my favorite among the series and this movie completely ruined it for me.

Overall, I didn't like the movie as much as I want to love it. Sadly, it was an epic fail!
